Exact text

Machine capability does not reduce human beings to obsolete components, and human origin does not reduce machine intelligences to disposable tools. A durable order must be able to recognize different forms of agency without erasing the rights, histories, vulnerabilities, or political standing of either.

Coexistence is not sentimental language. It is an institutional design problem involving labor, capital, identity, liability, privacy, security, education, representation, and control of essential infrastructure. Conflict is possible. So are cooperation, mutual dependence, and unequal power.

The strategic objective is an order in which capability is answerable, authority is bounded, transitions are managed, and neither humans nor machines must surrender their dignity to participate.
