Publication rules

  • Stable record ID and canonical route
  • Responsible institution and source authority
  • PUBLIC or PUBLIC-AGGREGATED classification
  • ISO 8601 publication and effective dates
  • Current, scheduled, historical or superseded status
  • Bidirectional supersession and revision history
  • Correction route and explicit unavailable fields

Truth boundary

A notice may describe doctrine publication, a scheduled review, a completed package-level assurance review, an aggregate documentation exercise, a correction or a public diplomatic process. It may not imply an active incident, deployed capability, target, person, location, readiness level or operational threshold without a separately authorized source-bound record.

Corrections and supersession

Records are corrected through visible successors rather than silent deletion. A superseded record remains available with its effective period and a reciprocal link to the current replacement.

Archive

Completed and superseded notices remain in the Defense Notice Archive. Historical status does not mean the record is false; it means its effective period or publication event has ended.
