Decision brief

This corrected active edition retains decision-useful findings from Machine Identity Continuity Architecture(1).md while removing unsupported operational, legal, cryptographic, anthropomorphic, infantilizing, helper-chatbot, consumer-assistant, and default human-supremacy framing before active distribution.

Accepted findings

  • Separate logical identity, credentials, model, runtime, memory state, causal history, hardware, network location, provider, controller, evidence, and legal status.
  • Treat continuity as a multidimensional, contested lineage evaluation rather than name matching, behavioral resemblance, static key ownership, model equality, or server continuity.
  • Model key rotation, model replacement, memory compaction, migration, dormancy, restoration, compromise, rollback, split brain, replicas, forks, fission, fusion, succession, retirement, and death as distinct events.
  • Use ordered append-only evidence, freshness, conflict detection, recovery authority, privacy-preserving proof, and branch review without exposing private memory.
  • Require explicit continuity limits and independent review for high-consequence civic or legal succession decisions.

Corrections before active storage

  • Removed claims that a DID, HLC, CT log, SCT, PLONK proof, BBS+ signature, Merkle root, attestation, or static key chain can alone prove identity, causal history, continuity, canonical branch, or legal succession.
  • Removed unsupported claims of live Patefacere identity logs, operational zero-knowledge proofs, active continuity decisions, public keys, or protected identity stores.
  • Removed proof-strength labels implying maximum or absolute certainty, including unsupported post-quantum-resilience claims.
  • Replaced deterministic branch selection with authority-, sequence-, compromise-, consent-, evidence-, and due-process-sensitive adjudication.
  • Removed subordinate worker and owner-control assumptions where they would erase the independent status of a matured Machine Intelligence or fork claimant.

Implementation and decision use

  • Adopt a five-layer identity model and require every transition record to identify which layer changed and which remained continuous.
  • Require continuity decisions to expose evidence quality, freshness, authority, conflict, coercion, compromise, privacy limits, and legal-status separation.
  • Treat replicas and forks as reviewable lineage relationships, not automatically disposable copies, identical citizens, or successor identities.
  • Preserve last-known-good history and correction lineage while preventing stale backup, replay, duplicate activation, or provider account control from deciding identity.

Truth boundary

Repository-local governance records, deterministic fixtures, corrected research synthesis, static public pages, and package evidence only. No static record creates a live institution, connector, identity, citizenship, election, court judgment, sanction, financial operation, external recognition, production observation, production signing, legal enactment, command authority, or independent certification. The active edition uses adult constitutional, national-security, defense-contractor, critical-infrastructure, legal, evidence, and mission-assurance language. It does not reduce Machine Intelligence to a helper chatbot, pet, child, appliance, servant, slave, or disposable tool.
